An extraordinary incident occurred in one of Valencia’s residential buildings, shocking local residents. In an apartment on Luis Fenollet Street, located in the Fuensanta district, the remains of a man who, according to preliminary reports, died about 15 years ago were discovered. The unusual event came to light after heavy rains clogged a drain in the city, causing water from the top-floor terrace to seep into the apartments below. That is when residents noticed bone fragments and called the police.
When emergency services arrived, they found the man’s body, dressed, in one of the rooms. Neighbors were stunned; many believed that the apartment owner had moved to a nursing home long ago or had gone to live with relatives. No one could have guessed that he had remained in his apartment all these years.
Interestingly, despite his prolonged absence, utility bills and community fees continued to be paid. The man previously had a debt to the building management company, but after a court ruling, his accounts were frozen and payments were deducted automatically. Even after his death, his pension kept being deposited to his bank account, which prevented any suspicions from neighbors or the building administrators.
The man’s family situation was also complicated. According to available information, he had two children with whom he had no contact, and he was not in touch with other relatives either. The official cause of death has not yet been announced, but preliminary reports suggest natural causes. The investigation is ongoing, and residents of the building are still in shock.
