A new season of Imserso’s travel program for seniors is launching in Spain. Starting October 6, residents of several autonomous communities can book their trips, and two days later, the rest of the country will join in. This year, organizers have introduced several important changes aimed at making travel even more accessible and appealing.
Since September, millions of Spaniards have received letters confirming their eligibility for the program. Nearly 880,000 spots will be available this season. Particular attention is given to those receiving minimum pensions: a fixed trip price of just €50 is now offered. This innovation applies to all types of tours, including seaside and excursion destinations.
For the first time, participants are allowed to bring pets weighing up to 10 kilograms (including the carrier). Two percent of spots on popular coastal and island destinations are reserved for such travelers. This decision is expected to delight many seniors who don’t want to leave their pets behind during their holidays.
To book a trip, all you need is the four-digit code from the letter and an ID. Reservations can be made online or at partner agency offices. This season, the largest number of spots—over 440,000—are allocated for mainland coastal trips, with about 228,000 for the islands, and more than 210,000 for short excursion tours.
The organizers emphasize that the program not only helps seniors remain active, but also supports the country’s economy, especially during the low season. These trips help create jobs and provide an additional boost to the tourism sector. Additionally, tours are distributed evenly over the dates to avoid overcrowding during certain periods.
Overall, the new Imserso season promises to be eventful and diverse. The program continues to expand opportunities for active aging, while the new features make travel even more accessible for all categories of retirees.
