In the heart of Madrid, the five-star Four Seasons Hotel’s Suite Real, spanning over 400 square meters, has undergone an unexpected transformation. The space, once defined by royal luxury, is now filled with works of art. Until December 21, it hosts the Bobby Art exhibition, bringing together pieces by renowned masters and emerging artists. Guests can see how the historic interior blends with contemporary artistic trends.
Majestic Louis XV-style fireplaces, gilded stucco ceilings, and soaring windows now serve as a backdrop for sculptures, paintings, and installations. The exhibition organizers decided not to limit access to hotel guests—anyone can experience the display, which extends beyond Suite Real to one of the hotel’s most elegant rooms, the Isa Blue Room.
A Dialogue of Eras
The idea to turn the luxurious suite into an art space arose when the hotel proposed connecting its unique atmosphere with the world of contemporary art. As a result, in rooms once reserved for a select few, visitors can now see works by Joan Miró, Antoni Tàpies, Jaume Plensa, and emerging artists such as Moisés Yagües, Ismael Lagares, and Jorge Hernández.
The exhibition is designed to highlight the contrast between the historical décor and bold artistic choices. Every hall and every detail of the interior becomes part of the overall artistic statement. Here, past and present do not conflict but complement each other, creating a unique atmosphere for visitors.
Accessible to all
The organizers have prioritized openness. Entry is free, and the prices of the artworks range from €500 to €80,000. This is not only an opportunity to purchase a unique piece but also a chance for a wide audience to experience contemporary art in an unconventional setting. Among the visitors are not just collectors but also students, hotel staff, residents, and city guests.
Four Seasons Madrid has long been known for its extensive art collection. The hotel houses about 1,500 pieces—from paintings to sculpture and photography. Many were created by young artists chosen through competitions at art schools in Madrid, Málaga, and Seville. The new exhibition blends seamlessly into this cultural environment.
Contemporary highlights
Some of the most notable works include a brass constellation installation by Eduardo Pérez Cabrero, a painted ceiling in the ISA restaurant by Sandra Val, light boxes by Pilar Cavestany in the Suite Real, and luminous methacrylate structures by Cristina Almodóvar. Each piece adds new meaning and visual accents to the space.
The Bobby Art exhibition has become more than just a temporary event; it’s now part of a long-term project where art takes center stage in the hotel’s daily life. Here, guests value not only luxury but also cultural diversity, openness to new ideas, and emerging talent.
