Malaga Flight Delayed 11 Hours After Passenger Dies On Board

Elderly woman dies after landing—passengers in shock

An Easyjet flight at Malaga Airport was delayed for 11 hours after the sudden death of an 89-year-old passenger following landing. The incident has sparked discussion among family members and tourists about the circumstances.

An unusual incident occurred at the Málaga airport, one that will be long remembered by both passengers and staff. In the morning, as an Easyjet flight was preparing to depart for London, a tragedy took place on board: an 89-year-old woman died shortly after boarding the plane. She was accompanied by relatives who helped her to her seat in a wheelchair. According to them, the elderly woman had been feeling unwell and fell asleep, but other passengers noticed she showed no signs of life even during boarding.

The family tried to wake the woman, talking to her and encouraging her before the flight. One passenger, a young woman from Marbella, recalled that the relatives acted as if everything was fine and continued speaking to the elderly woman. After everyone took their seats, the plane’s doors were closed and the crew began preparations for takeoff. However, it soon became clear that something was wrong: the woman had no pulse and did not respond when spoken to.

Emergency stop

The plane, which had already started taxiing down the runway, was forced to return to the terminal. All passengers were asked to disembark and return to the airport building. Many were shocked by what had happened and discussed the incident among themselves. Some noted that the woman had already appeared lifeless during boarding and wondered how she was allowed on the flight. Emotional comments and videos began circulating on social media, with passengers sharing their experiences and criticizing the airline for the incident.

One of the passengers, who posted a video on Facebook, expressed her bewilderment: according to her, usually even intoxicated passengers are not allowed on board, yet this time a woman who, in the opinion of many, was already showing no signs of life, made it onto the plane. In the comments to the video, she also pointed out that the situation had caused a lot of disinformation and dissatisfaction among passengers, since each was in a hurry and counted on a timely departure.

Airline position

The flight was delayed for more than 11 hours. It was only late in the evening that passengers were able to take their seats again and depart for London. Airline representatives later explained that the woman had a medical clearance to fly as well as an escort from medical personnel. According to them, her death occurred after boarding, while she was in her seat. The airline expressed condolences to her family and promised to provide all necessary support to the relatives and loved ones of the deceased.

Despite official statements, discussions continued among passengers and on social media: some accused the airline of negligence, while others expressed sympathy for the family and noted that the situation was extremely difficult for everyone involved. As a result of the incident, the flight departed only after 10:00 p.m., and passengers spent almost the entire day waiting.

Reaction and consequences

This incident became one of the most talked-about events of the week in Málaga. Many are now asking how similar situations can be prevented in the future, and what measures airlines should take to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers. For the relatives of the deceased and everyone else on the flight, it was a real ordeal, and for airport staff, a reminder of just how unpredictable the job can be.
