In the capital of the Balearic Islands, police officers have detained a local resident suspected of crimes against children. During a search, authorities discovered a massive archive containing material depicting sexual abuse of minors. The number of files found exceeded 31,000—these included videos and images stored in hundreds of separate folders on his devices.
The investigation began after cybercrime specialists in Madrid requested assistance from their colleagues in Palma. While monitoring online activity, they detected suspicious behavior on file-sharing networks where materials involving children were being distributed. A meticulous analysis of digital traces allowed them to identify a user who was regularly uploading and downloading prohibited content.
Police determined that the suspect actively used platforms such as ‘Peer to Peer’ to exchange files with people around the world. Over several months, he downloaded and distributed tens of thousands of units of illegal content. After obtaining a court warrant, officers seized his devices and arrested him at his home.
During the search, electronic devices were seized containing 675 folders with material related to crimes against children. The suspect is currently in custody, while investigators continue to examine the details of his actions and possible connections to other participants in similar networks.
