On Thursday morning, Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez surprised Radio 3 listeners with a visit devoted not to politics, but to music. The head of government shared how he still finds time to listen to new releases despite his packed schedule. He gave special attention to Rosalia’s latest album, which, he noted, he listened to from start to finish in one sitting, setting aside a full hour in his timetable just for it.
Sánchez admitted that he usually manages to hear only a couple of tracks in a row because of his constant workload. However, this time he decided to make an exception and listen to the entire album, following the advice to experience it from beginning to end. He chose the digital version for this, though the physical release contains extra tracks that he hasn’t had a chance to hear yet. In the coming days, the prime minister promised to share on TikTok the song that impressed him the most.
For Sánchez, music has become a way to disconnect from the intense atmosphere of running the country. He pointed out that the constant debates and discussions in the media don’t allow him to fully relax, so he prefers to tune out with his favorite melodies to regain his inner balance. He said that Radio 3 has been his companion for many years, especially during periods when he was in opposition.
Among his favorite artists, Sánchez mentioned Destroyer and Cala Vento, and recalled attending a Guns N’ Roses concert at the Vicente Calderón stadium in his youth—a memory that remains one of his most vivid musical experiences. He admitted he misses music festivals and hopes to return to them once his political career is over. After the broadcast, the prime minister posted a photo on social media wearing a Radio 3 T-shirt and thanked the team for their warm welcome.
