In 2025, football star Cristiano Ronaldo and model Georgina Rodríguez announced their engagement after nine years together. The couple shared the joyful news on social media, where Rodríguez showed off a ring with an impressive diamond. This event was meant to be the culmination of their romantic story, which began in 2016. However, the celebration was quickly overshadowed by scandalous claims that cast doubt on the official version of how the couple met.
Shortly before the wedding announcement, Pablo Boone, who introduced himself as a former friend and colleague of Georgina, appeared on the TardeAR television program on Telecinco. He publicly claimed that the widely known story about their first meeting is nothing more than a beautiful fabrication. According to him, Ronaldo and Rodríguez did not meet by chance in a Madrid boutique, but rather their introduction was arranged in advance.
The official version, detailed in the Netflix documentary series ‘Yo soy Georgina,’ paints a picture of a modern fairy tale. Rodríguez, who was 31 at the time, described how meeting the footballer completely changed her life. As a modest employee at the Gucci store in Madrid, one day she saw a tall, handsome man enter the boutique, accompanied by his son and friends. That was Cristiano Ronaldo, then playing for Real Madrid. In the series, Ronaldo himself confirmed that the image of the girl became firmly fixed in his mind from that day. Soon after came an invitation to dinner, which both described as a ‘unique moment’ that marked the beginning of their relationship.
However, Pablo Bun presents a completely different picture. He claims that the romantic legend was created by the footballer’s image and marketing team. According to Bun, the couple actually met at the elite Madrid nightclub Opium. He also added that there is photographic evidence of their meetings prior to the official date they claim to have met. Moreover, Bun stated that Ronaldo’s representatives initially arranged for Georgina to work at Gucci, and then planned to move her to Prada, but had to abandon this idea. The reason was the excessive attention from fans who would come to the store with football jerseys hoping to get an autograph, which disrupted work.
The current accusations are not Bun’s first public statements. Back in 2023, he posted videos on TikTok making unflattering remarks about his former colleague. Georgina Rodriguez, who usually avoids commenting on such matters, broke her silence and stated on her social media that she does not know this person and has never worked with him. The conflict escalated to a new level when the model filed a defamation lawsuit against Pablo Bun, which he himself reported to the press.
