Gang arrested after string of store raids
A major operation in Sevilla led to the arrest of seven members of a criminal gang by police and the civil guard. Over a three-month period, they carried out 25 robberies across several southern provinces of Spain, including Sevilla, Cádiz, Córdoba, Huelva, and Badajoz. The criminals acted swiftly and aggressively: they stole cars to ram store windows, then looted the most valuable goods from the shops.
How the gang operated: targets and tactics
Bars and restaurants were their primary targets, where they sought out high-cash gaming machines. Over time, their focus shifted to gourmet shops and sports showrooms. Among the stolen goods were premium products—jamón shoulders, lomo ribbons, as well as high-end bicycles. Sometimes, the gang managed to rob several places in a single night, not limiting themselves to just one type of merchandise.
Arrest details and police discoveries
During searches in Sevilla and surrounding towns like Dos Hermanas and Alcalá de Guadaíra, law enforcement agents uncovered an impressive arsenal: from burglary tools and signal jamming devices to firearms. The seized property included dozens of boxes of gourmet goods, expensive bicycles, and gaming machines. Additionally, a mini marijuana plantation with nearly 300 plants was found in one house.
Legal Outlook and Consequences for Participants
All those detained had previously been prosecuted for property crimes. Five of them have been remanded in custody by court order. They are charged with forming a criminal organization, burglary, armed robbery, illegal possession of weapons, and drug-related offenses. The investigation is ongoing, and police consider this group one of the most active in the region in recent years.
