Three Men Arrested in Asturias After String of Robbery Attempts and High-Speed Chase

High-Speed Chase and Night Raids: How Police Unraveled a Chain of Daring Crimes in Siero

Three suspects were apprehended in Siero after a nighttime pursuit. They are accused of robbing a warehouse and attempting to break into local cafes. The investigation has linked them to several related incidents.

In the municipality of Siero, located in Asturias, Civil Guard officers have arrested three men suspected of a series of bold crimes. According to investigators, the group is connected to a warehouse robbery and four attempted break-ins at the same restaurant. All those arrested are residents of Avilés and Corvera de Asturias and are between 25 and 32 years old.

The incidents took place mostly at night. In early November, after an alarm went off at a popular café, a patrol unit rushed to the scene. On the way, officers spotted a SEAT León driving at high speed without headlights. The car was already known to law enforcement from previous property crime cases.

The driver ignored the order to stop and tried to flee, constantly changing direction. The chase continued along the A-64 and A-8 highways toward Avilés. Near Piedras Blancas, and with the help of another patrol car, police managed to block the vehicle and detain all three men inside.

Investigation and details of the criminal scheme

Further investigation revealed that the detainees were already under police surveillance. Since mid-October, they had been suspected of involvement in a warehouse break-in in Noreña and several attempted break-ins at the same café in Siero. The crimes shared similar details: the actions took place late at night, the perpetrators used cars with concealed license plates, and there were always three or four people involved. One stood guard outside, another forced the door open with a crowbar, and the rest entered. All participants carefully hid their faces and wore gloves.

The main target of these raids was the cash register—the criminals hoped to find cash. However, thanks to the installed security systems, the café owner was able to prevent the theft: each time the intruders got inside, they left quickly without finishing what they started.

Evidence and Charges

During the investigation, police thoroughly reviewed security footage, inspected the crime scenes, and cross-checked information about the suspects’ movements and the vehicles they used. This allowed them to link the group to a series of crimes.

As a result, the suspects have been charged under several articles: breaking into the warehouse, four attempted café break-ins, five counts of property damage, reckless driving, failure to comply with police orders, and involvement in an organized crime group.

After completing all the necessary paperwork, the detainees were taken to the court in Pola de Siero, where they will have to answer for their actions.
