Valencia to Double C3 Rail Line and Build New Bonaire Station

Railway Revolution in Valencia — New Routes and Bonaire Station

Valencia is preparing for a major upgrade of its suburban rail network. The C3 line will be expanded, and a new, modern station will be built in the Bonaire area. The project aims to improve travel comfort and speed.

In the coming years, Valencia’s railway network is set for a major modernization. Spain’s Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, through the state-owned company Adif, is finalizing a project to double the tracks on the C3 line between Valencia and Aldaia. The total investment is estimated at around 80 million euros. The main goal is to increase the capacity, reliability, and safety of suburban transport.

As part of this project, there are plans not only to double the railway tracks over a stretch of about 12 kilometers but also to build a new station in the Bonaire area. This sector is known as one of the largest commercial and entertainment hubs in the region. The new station is expected to become a key transport node for residents and visitors of Valencia, as well as for workers and customers of the Bonaire commercial zone.

New tracks and stations

The project includes construction of an additional track between València Sant Isidre station and the future Bonaire station, passing through the municipality of Xirivella. Part of the route will utilize an existing double track, previously belonging to the C4 line between Xirivella and L’Alter. This will help optimize costs and speed up project implementation.

An important aspect of the upgrade will be not only building the new station, but also modernizing existing platforms. In particular, improvements will be made at València Sant Isidre, Xirivella-Alqueries, and Aldaia stations. All of them will receive upgraded infrastructure to enhance passenger comfort and safety.

Bonaire station

The new Bonaire station will be a modern building of about 500 square meters. The platform will feature two platforms, each 210 meters long and 5 meters wide, connected by a multi-level passageway to ensure accessibility for all types of passengers. Parking will be available for drivers, and the station itself will be located on Coscollar road, offering direct access to the Bonaire industrial and commercial area.

The new station is expected to become a key element in the area’s transportation system. It will enable residents and visitors to travel more quickly and conveniently to one of the most popular shopping centers in the Comunidad Valenciana, which attracts more than 11 million visitors annually.

Urban infrastructure

The project also includes the adaptation of four city pedestrian crossings in the municipalities of Aldaia and Xirivella. These upgrades are necessary to integrate the new railway lines into the existing urban environment and to improve accessibility for residents. Special attention is being paid to the safety and convenience of pedestrian movement.

Overall, the modernization of the C3 line and the construction of the new Bonaire station are expected to significantly improve transport accessibility in the western suburbs of Valencia. The project will increase train speeds, improve service frequency and quality, and reduce infrastructure maintenance costs.

Plans and prospects

The project is currently in the final stages of approval with the municipalities through which the new section of the railway will pass. Authorities emphasize that these changes will make rail transport even more attractive to local residents, as well as support the development of commercial and industrial areas.

Construction is expected to begin soon, after which residents of Valencia and surrounding areas will be able to appreciate the benefits of the upgraded C3 line and the new Bonaire station. This will mark an important step in developing the region’s transportation system.
