On Sunday afternoon, residents of Zamora witnessed an unusual event: a wild deer ran into the old quarter of the city. The animal, which emerged from the Valorio forest, quickly crossed several streets and, clearly frightened by the city’s bustle, took refuge in an underground municipal parking lot. The incident immediately drew the attention of passersby and drivers, who never expected to encounter a forest animal in the heart of the city.
The deer’s appearance caused quite a stir. Within a short time, several people found themselves face to face with it, but fortunately, no one was injured. Bystanders quickly reported the incident to emergency services, and soon police, firefighters, and veterinarians arrived on the scene. To prevent the animal from running back out onto the streets, emergency personnel blocked the exits from the parking lot with service vehicles.
The rescue operation lasted several hours. Veterinarians prepared special tranquilizer darts, and using a blowpipe, carefully sedated the deer. Once the animal fell asleep, specialists examined it and treated minor wounds it had sustained while fleeing through the city. Firefighters then gently carried the deer out of the parking lot and transported it to a safe location outside the city, where it was able to recover and return to its normal life in the wild.
City authorities expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the rescue operation, including parking staff, veterinarians, and emergency services. An exception was made for motorists whose cars were blocked in the parking lot—the fee for the forced delay was waived. Despite the inconvenience, most residents responded to the situation with understanding and even followed the developments with curiosity. This incident turned into a real citywide event and once again reminded everyone that the boundaries between wildlife and the urban environment can blur in the most unexpected ways.
