At Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas International Airport, police officers detained a young woman who had arrived from overseas. The passenger tried to get through security by pretending to be pregnant: under her clothes, she had a silicone prosthesis that mimicked a baby bump. However, the officers became suspicious due to their attentiveness and the woman’s uncertain answers to standard questions.
During the inspection, the woman suddenly removed the fake belly. Under the silicone covering, transparent packets were neatly strapped to her body. In total, 13 bundles wrapped in plastic film were found on her abdomen. The contents of each bundle raised serious concerns among law enforcement.
A subsequent examination confirmed that the bundles contained cocaine. The total weight of the seized drugs exceeded two kilograms. The woman was immediately taken into custody on suspicion of a crime related to the illegal trafficking of prohibited substances.
Judicial authorities decided to keep the detainee in custody. She is expected to appear in court soon to face charges of attempting to smuggle drugs into Spain. Investigators are trying to determine whether she acted alone or was part of a larger criminal network.
In recent years, the Madrid airport has become an increasingly popular route for smugglers attempting to use the most unexpected methods to transport illegal substances. Law enforcement agencies regularly conduct inspections and are constantly improving their crime detection techniques.
If you didn’t know, Jefatura Superior de Policía de Madrid is the main police headquarters in the Spanish capital, responsible for ensuring security and combating crime in the region.
