Wednesday evening in Marbella turned alarming when gunshots rang out on one of Nueva Andalucía’s busy streets. A 26-year-old man was found lying on the asphalt with a gunshot wound to his leg. The events unfolded on avenida Miguel de Cervantes, where bystanders heard several bangs and spotted the man on the ground.
The emergency services received reports of the shooting around ten o’clock at night. Police, medics, and other first responders quickly arrived on the scene. The victim was treated on the spot before being taken to Costa del Sol hospital for further care.
Police cordoned off the area to investigate the details of the incident. According to preliminary information, the shots were fired suddenly and the shooter fled before authorities arrived. Forensic teams worked at the scene, collecting evidence and interviewing possible witnesses.
The investigation is ongoing
So far, there have been no arrests. Officers from the national police continue to investigate in order to identify the attacker and determine the motive. They are searching for any security cameras that might have captured the shooting or the suspect’s movements.
Local residents note that incidents like this are a source of concern, as it isn’t the first time firearms have been used in Marbella recently. Fortunately, this time there were no fatalities, but the very fact that shots were fired on the street once again raises questions about safety.
Series of incidents
Interestingly, just a day earlier, another shooting incident occurred in a different part of the city—Las Albarizas. In that case, a gunman opened fire during the day, but no one was injured. Police are linking both incidents and do not rule out a possible connection between them.
In both cases, the perpetrators acted quickly and fled before police arrived. Investigators believe this may be gang-related or involve personal disputes, but no official versions have been made public yet.
Response from authorities
Medical personnel who arrived at the scene in Nueva Andalucía provided first aid to the victim and quickly transported him to the hospital. According to available information, his life is not in danger, though his treatment may take some time.
Police have increased patrols in the areas where the incidents took place to prevent further occurrences. Marbella residents are being urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the police.
