Another draw of the popular European lottery brought great joy to Spanish soil. On Tuesday, September 23, fortune chose its favorite in the tiny town of Consell in the Balearic Islands. A local resident, whose name has not been disclosed, won a guaranteed prize of one million euros thanks to the unique code assigned to their ticket. For this community of just over four thousand people, the event became a true sensation.
The celebration of luck didn’t end there. The distribution of winnings that evening was notably wide. In the Valencian Community, specifically in the town of Carcaixent, a second-category ticket was registered. Its owner correctly picked five main numbers and one ‘star’, earning over 565,000 euros. Two additional significant third-category prizes, for five matched numbers, went to players in Barcelona and Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz province). This once again shows that residents from all corners of the country have a real chance of winning.
The Euromillones lottery itself, launched in 2004 as a joint venture between Spain, France, and the United Kingdom, now brings together nine European countries. Draws are held twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, giving participants a shot at multimillion-euro jackpots. The rules are simple: select 5 numbers out of 50 and 2 ‘stars’ out of 12. The top prize goes to the player who matches the entire combination, but there are a total of 13 prize categories.
A distinctive feature for Spanish participants is the additional draw called “El Millon.” Every ticket purchased in Spain automatically receives a unique alphanumeric code. The winner of the guaranteed one-million-euro prize is determined by these codes. Importantly, this prize is independent of the main number combination, which significantly increases the chances for players from Spain. This time, the winning numbers were 13, 29, 33, 11, 24 and the “stars” 05, 02, while the lucky “El Millon” code was TFG81252.
