Interestingly, La Primitiva is one of the oldest lotteries in the world, with its origins dating back to 18th-century Spain. The first draw took place on December 10, 1763, during the reign of Charles III. The lottery was initiated by the Marquess of Esquilache, the Minister of Finance, who aimed to boost the state treasury without imposing new taxes on the population.
