Spain is experiencing steady growth in new passenger car sales. In the first six months of 2025, registrations reached 609,800 units, up 13.9% compared to the same period last year. Interest in hybrid and electric vehicles is particularly strong: in June alone, over 10,000 electric cars and more than 13,000 plug-in hybrids were sold.
According to experts, one model stands out among the many options on the market, combining modern technology, efficiency, and reliability. This is the Toyota Yaris, which ITV inspector Pedro Bastida considers the best choice for purchase in 2025.
This compact city car features an attractive design, affordable price, and a high level of reliability. The model is built on a hybrid powertrain that combines a gasoline engine with an electric motor. Average fuel consumption is just 4.2 liters per 100 kilometers, which is especially relevant for urban use.
The Yaris Hybrid 130 version is equipped with a 130-horsepower engine that accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds. The interior is designed for driver comfort, featuring a digital instrument panel, a modern multimedia system, and an ergonomic control layout.
The base price of the Toyota Yaris starts at €21,900. Standard equipment includes driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, pedestrian and vehicle detection functions, as well as enhanced mobile device connectivity.
The manufacturer offers a three-year or 100,000-kilometer warranty, which increases to five years for hybrid versions. This approach helps strengthen the brand’s reputation as one of the most reliable in the world. International ratings, including J.D. Power and Consumer Reports, consistently rank Toyota highly for quality and durability.
The model is available in several trim levels. The Business Plus (120H) version features 15-inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors, and black interior upholstery. The Style (120H) trim offers 17-inch wheels, a multimedia system with a 10.5-inch display, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. September 2025 also set new records: passenger car sales reached 85,167 units, up 16.4% compared to the previous year. For the first time in a long while, monthly sales exceeded pre-pandemic levels. Since the start of the year, a total of 854,658 vehicles have been sold, highlighting the growing interest in new cars in Spain.
