United Kingdom

Relations between Spain and the United Kingdom have a long history, but currently, the main focus is on their ties following Brexit—the UK’s exit from the European Union.
In the aftermath, Spain highlighted its long-standing territorial claim against the UK over Gibraltar—a British territory in Spain—raising concerns about potential border issues between Spain and Gibraltar.

Despite such disagreements, the United Kingdom remains one of Spain’s most important economic and tourism partners. In addition, thousands of Spaniards live and work in the UK, while many Britons relocate to Spain permanently.

However, Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union leaves many unresolved issues, and in the future, relations between Spain and the UK in certain areas may become more complex and unpredictable.
