Stella del Carmen, daughter of Hollywood stars Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith, has chosen the venue for her wedding to American businessman Alex Gruszynski. Contrary to expectations, the couple decided against celebrating in Andalusia, the homeland of the bride’s father, and instead opted for the historic region of Castile and León.
The wedding ceremony will take place at the exclusive five-star hotel Abadía Retuerta LeDomaine, located in the province of Valladolid, just a two-hour drive from Madrid. Considered one of the finest venues in Spain, the location is a former 12th-century Romanesque abbey transformed into a modern luxury hotel. The choice of this site, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero wine country, surprised many but underscored the couple’s desire for privacy and ‘quiet luxury.’
The hotel offers just 30 rooms, highlighting Stella and Alex’s intention to host an intimate gathering for their closest circle. Guests will be able to enjoy views of endless vineyards and take advantage of a spa set in the old stables, as well as dine at a Michelin-starred restaurant in the former monks’ refectory. The newlyweds will likely stay in the best suite, measuring 100 square meters, at a rate of around €1,500 per night.
It is worth noting that Abadía Retuerta LeDomaine has long attracted celebrities. Tamara Falcó and Íñigo Onieva have previously stayed here. In addition, in 2019, the popular culinary show MasterChef Celebrity was filmed on the hotel’s premises, with Tamara Falcó emerging as the winner.
Antonio Banderas has previously expressed to the press his joy over his daughter’s decision to get married in Spain. According to him, even though Stella grew up in the US, she feels a strong connection to her Andalusian roots. The actor believes that holding the wedding on Spanish soil is a wonderful way for his daughter to strengthen this connection and introduce the groom’s family to her culture. He also admitted that he is eagerly and excitedly awaiting the moment he will walk his daughter down the aisle.
