Experience the magic of sleeping under the stars without sacrificing comfort, with sweeping ocean views far from city light pollution — that’s exactly what Blue Ocean Camp offers. This luxury campsite, located on the west coast of Gran Canaria, nestles between volcanic mountains and pristine shoreline. Its main attraction and most photographed feature is a futuristic dome that has turned the site into a mecca for glamping enthusiasts.
Once you arrive, it’s easy to see why this place is considered the most picturesque campsite in the Canary Islands. Situated by Tasartico beach, it promises complete privacy and an escape from the bustle of mass tourism. The highlight of the complex, Eco Domo, is a semi-transparent domed structure that blends design, sustainability, and comfort. Inside, guests will find a double bed and a private bathroom; outside, a terrace invites you to watch the sunrise over the Atlantic. The nightly rate is 99 euros.
Accommodation options
In addition to its famous domes, Blue Ocean Camp offers other accommodation options. For those seeking more space or traveling in a group, there are fully equipped wooden cabaña cabins available for €99 per night. There’s also a more compact version, the Mini Cabaña, designed for two people and priced at just €40. Another interesting choice is the Tiny Houses—small mobile homes designed for two, complete with a kitchen, bathroom, and breathtaking views right from the bed.
The most spacious option is the chalet house at €109 per night, featuring several bedrooms and Wi-Fi, making it ideal for family vacation or extended stays. For fans of road trips, the campground offers an XXL-sized motorhome equipped with all the essentials. Of course, traditional campers haven’t been forgotten: there are sites available for tents, campers, or motorhomes.
Leisure and gastronomy
All guests, regardless of their accommodation choice, have access to the shared facilities. They can enjoy the bar, restaurant, private pool with sun loungers, relaxation area, and game zones for activities like billiards, table football, or pétanque. The on-site restaurant specializes in homemade cuisine featuring seasonal ingredients, with a menu catering to various diets. Popular dishes include fries with melted cheese or sausages (€4.50), as well as vegetable and specialty sandwiches with egg, cheese, and tomato (€4.50).
For breakfast, you can order the Blue Ocean Camp combo set for €9, which includes coffee, fried eggs, toast, ham, cheese, tomato, jam, and fruit. The dessert menu features gofio mousse, bread pudding, and the dessert ‘polvito uruguayo,’ priced from €4 to €5. For active leisure, you can rent paddleboards, go snorkeling, or join yoga and meditation sessions, with mats available for rent at €2 for two hours.
A unique atmosphere
For those seeking a more intense experience, there’s a hiking trail leading to Playa de Guguy—one of the island’s most iconic and secluded spots. The route stretches just over 10 kilometers and takes you into a virtually untouched corner of nature. This place draws digital nomads, international students, and travelers in search of authenticity far from urban noise. Here, on the lesser-known side of Gran Canaria, life is still guided by the rhythms of the ocean and the mountains.
It’s not possible to reach the campsite by public transport. If traveling from the north, head towards La Aldea de San Nicolás, then take the GC-200 to the turnoff for GC-204 towards Tasartico. From the south, the route starts in Mogán, also via the GC-200. The last stretch is a dirt road descending through the Tasartico gorge. The effort required for the journey is well rewarded: guests are met with one of the most impressive places to stay in the Canaries.
Incidentally, Blue Ocean Camp positions itself not just as a campsite, but as a project aimed at creating a community of people who value nature and mindful recreation. The company’s philosophy is based on principles of sustainability and minimal impact on the environment. They actively use solar energy and other eco-friendly technologies. The founders’ goal is to give guests the opportunity not just to relax, but to truly reconnect with nature while maintaining a high level of comfort.
