In recent days, Spain has experienced a sharp deterioration in weather conditions. The national meteorological agency has warned residents about the risk of heavy rainfall affecting several autonomous communities at once. The situation is particularly severe in the provinces of Castellón, Valencia, and Tarragona, where the highest alert level has been declared.
Due to the unfavorable forecast, transport organizations, including the railway company Renfe and airport operator AENA, have been forced to modify schedules and cancel some routes. Passengers are advised to avoid traveling to the most affected areas to prevent possible road incidents and delays.
The Directorate-General for Traffic has also urged the public to limit travel in areas under red alert. The agency emphasized that the safety of citizens remains the top priority and advised people to stay home whenever possible until the situation stabilizes.
In the Valencian Community, local authorities have decided to temporarily close parks and gardens, as well as suspend classes in the southern districts of the city of Valencia. These measures aim to prevent accidents and reduce the burden on emergency services.
According to meteorologists, some areas of Valencia may receive up to 180 liters of precipitation per square meter in a single day. The red alert level will remain in effect until late on September 29, especially in coastal areas. In Catalonia and Murcia, the orange alert is in place and is expected to be lifted only by the morning of the following day.
Meteorologists note that the extreme weather conditions were caused by an active cyclone bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and are ready to respond promptly to any changes.
