BYD has introduced the Atto 3 Evo, an updated version of one of its earliest electric SUVs to reach Spain. Sold in China as the Yuan Plus, the model was part of BYD’s early push into European markets. The brand is often associated with models like the Dolphin Surf and the best-selling Seal U, but the Atto 3 Evo brings new features to a segment crowded with strong contenders.
Dimensions and Interior
The Atto 3 Evo retains its compact SUV proportions. It measures 4,455 mm long and 1,875 mm wide, stands 1,615 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,720 mm. The exterior dimensions remain unchanged, but BYD has reworked the interior to add storage. The rear boot now holds 490 litres, 50 litres more than in the previous model, and expands to 1,360 litres with the rear seats folded. A front trunk, or frunk, adds another 101 litres for everyday use. The cabin gets an 8.8-inch digital instrument display alongside a 15.6-inch central touchscreen. Its understated design aims for broad appeal rather than bold statements.
Powertrain and Performance
The Atto 3 Evo comes with two powertrain options, both built around BYD’s 74.8 kWh Blade Battery with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry. The entry-level Design version has a single rear-mounted motor that delivers 313 PS (230 kW) and 380 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and offers a WLTP range of up to 510 km.
The higher-spec Excellence adds a second motor on the front axle, giving it all-wheel lead and total output of 449 PS (330 kW) and 560 Nm. It reaches 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, though its range falls to 470 km. Both versions use an 800V electrical architecture and support DC fast charging at up to 220 kW. BYD says charging from 10% to 80% takes about 25 minutes, but actual charging time depends on conditions such as battery temperature and the charger’s available power. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability of up to 3.3 kW lets users power external devices directly from the car. The two variants share the same battery, so the choice mainly comes down to range versus performance: the all-wheel-lead model adds 180 Nm of torque and cuts the 0-100 km/h time by 1.6 seconds, while its WLTP range is 40 km lower.
Pricing and Trims
BYD offers the Atto 3 Evo in two trims, Design and Excellence. The Design version starts at €42,990 (recommended retail price), but brand promotions and financing bring the effective price down to €31,995. Those promotions include the Auto+ Plan and Energy Savings Certificates. The Excellence trim starts at €45,990, with the same incentives reducing the cost to €35,105. Spanish offers vary by trim and colour, as well as by financing and campaign conditions. A separate Design Iris Blue promotion has been advertised at €36,313 cash or €28,888 with financing, with terms stated to run until 31 October 2026. These conditional offers are not directly interchangeable with the prices listed above.
Equipment and Features
The Design trim includes a power tailgate and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen with Google integration. It also has a 360-degree camera, plus electrically adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation. The driver gets four-way lumbar support, and the frunk has a capacity of 95 litres. The Excellence trim adds a head-up display and panoramic sunroof, along with heated rear seats for buyers seeking extra comfort and technology.

The Atto 3 Evo enters a fiercely competitive field of compact electric SUVs in Spain. Its basic rival is the Kia EV3, which balances range and technology at a competitive price, while leading the segment in sales. The Kia offers a 460-litre boot and a single 204 hp (150 kW) motor. Some versions have more than 700 km of range.
The Tesla Model Y, though slightly larger, is a frequent alternative for buyers seeking zero-emission SUVs, with a broad lineup spanning long-range and high-performance versions. The Skoda Elroq and Volkswagen ID.4 represent Volkswagen Group’s approach, with family-friendly space and powertrains ranging from 170 to 300 hp. Their ranges reach up to 560 km.
With its latest update, the BYD Atto 3 Evo positions itself as a practical, well-equipped option for Spanish drivers considering a switch to electric mobility. Its 490-litre rear boot comes with additional front storage, while the 800V charging system and choice of rear- or all-wheel lead give it a distinct specification-led pitch. The rear-lead Design prioritises the longer stated range; the Excellence delivers faster acceleration.
