Madrid’s early draw selected 2,715 people to staff 437 polling stations on 29 November. Residents in some municipalities can check online before their postal notification arrives.
The Ley Orgánica 5/1985, de 19 de junio, del Régimen Electoral General sets the draw between the 25th and 29th days after an election is called. For the 2026 general election, draws took place between 31 October and 3 November. Municipalities can seek permission to hold them earlier. Madrid drew its members on 29 October, and Valladolid also obtained approval to bring its draw forward. Spain’s official gazette also records the electoral timetable through Royal Decree-Law 32/2026, published on 3 November 2026 and updated the following day under reference BOE-A-2026-23104.
Madrid’s City Council says selected residents will receive a notice at home that requires acknowledgement. The notice is also available through its electronic office, so residents who miss a delivery can check online rather than travel to the post office. The relevant section is ‘Consulta del censo electoral y presentación de reclamaciones’. Madrid’s open-data portal logged a dataset change on 31 October 2026 and updated the entry on 4 November. A separate municipal dataset, “200085-0-censo-locales,” covers electoral premises. Its change was dated 1 November, and the record was updated on 3 November.
Valladolid residents have also reported that the municipal website is already showing the draw results. After entering a DNI, users select ‘Consultar’ to see whether they have been appointed and, if so, which role they will hold. A separate Dénia member tally records 441 titular and substitute members for the same election.
Postal letters are normally sent within three days of the draw, though some arrive later. If a resident is absent, officials may try another delivery or leave a collection slip directing them to Correos. Selected residents should receive a postal notification even when an online check is available.
