Corendon Group has launched regular Caribbean cruise routes, expanding its tourism portfolio. The company also received a double export champion award in Turkey, highlighting its rapid international growth.

Corendon Group, known for its rapid ascent from a tour operator to a global tourism player, has officially entered the cruise sector with new routes to the Caribbean. This move comes as the company was recognized among Turkey’s top ten service exporters, receiving a double export champion award from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The expansion into maritime tourism signals a significant shift for Corendon, which has already established a strong presence in aviation and hospitality.

The company’s latest recognition was awarded at the “İhracatın Şampiyonları Ödül Töreni” in Istanbul, organized by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM). Corendon Airlines, with a fleet of 35 aircraft and operations spanning 45 countries and 170 cities, was honored for its contribution to Turkey’s service exports. CEO Yıldıray Karaer highlighted the group’s consistent growth, particularly in the Polish, British, and German markets, as evidence of its effective international strategy.

Corendon’s entry into the cruise market is anchored by a partnership with the UK-based Ambassador Cruise Line. The inaugural Corendon Caribbean cruise departed from IJmuiden Port in the Netherlands, heading to Curaçao. The group, founded by Yıldıray Karaer and Atilay Uslu, will operate regular winter-season sailings to various Caribbean islands from its Curaçao base. At the launch event, co-founder Atilay Uslu emphasized that the collaboration revives direct cruise connections to and from Curaçao, offering travelers a new way to explore the region. Titus F.P. Kramer, head of the Corendon Aid Foundation, noted that the project introduces a fresh experience to Caribbean tourism.

In addition to its cruise debut, Corendon is integrating its Mondi restaurant chain into the new venture. Known for Caribbean cuisine and already present in Corendon’s hotels in Amsterdam, Badhoevedorp, and Curaçao, Mondi will now serve guests on board the cruise ships. This makes Mondi one of the few restaurant brands to offer its menu simultaneously on land, in the air, and at sea.

Another strategic development is Corendon’s full acquisition of Stip Reizen, a well-known Dutch travel brand. From July 1, Stip Reizen will operate entirely under the Corendon umbrella, further consolidating the group’s position in the Dutch market. This integration reflects Corendon’s evolution from a modest travel organizer to a conglomerate uniting airlines, tour operations, hotel chains, and now cruise tourism.

Corendon’s expansion into the Caribbean cruise sector comes at a time when the global tourism industry is seeking new growth avenues. The company’s ability to combine air, land, and sea offerings under one brand is notable, especially as European travel companies look for ways to diversify. For context, the international travel sector has seen similar strategic shifts, such as the recent changes in MotoGP qualifying formats, which were covered in detail in our report on unexpected developments at the Dutch Grand Prix. Corendon’s latest moves may signal a broader trend of diversification among major tourism operators.

For Spain, where outbound and inbound tourism remains a key economic driver, the emergence of new cruise routes and integrated travel products could influence market competition and traveler preferences. The Caribbean remains a popular long-haul destination for Spanish tourists, and new offerings from established brands like Corendon may impact both pricing and service standards in the sector. As the tourism landscape continues to evolve, such strategic expansions are likely to shape the choices available to travelers across Europe.
