ElPozo Alimentación has taken a decisive step to diversify its business, acquiring Tolvasa-Paasa, a well-established poultry company headquartered in Albacete. The deal, confirmed by Grupo Fuertes, brings a new dimension to ElPozo’s operations, traditionally centered on pork, and signals a clear intent to gain ground in Spain’s competitive poultry market.
The acquisition includes both Productos Alimenticios Albacete S.A. and Tolosa y Valiente S.A., the core companies behind Tolvasa-Paasa. According to regulatory filings, Grupo Corporativo Fuertes S.L. now holds exclusive control over these entities, consolidating its presence in the poultry farming, processing, and meat preservation sectors.
Strategic Shift
By integrating Tolvasa-Paasa, Grupo Fuertes secures a vertically integrated supply chain that stretches from feed production and chick rearing to slaughter and final product distribution. This structure allows for full traceability, a growing priority in the food industry, and gives ElPozo greater oversight of raw materials at every stage.
The move comes after a previous, unsuccessful attempt by Grupo Fuertes to acquire Uvesa, another major player in Spain’s poultry sector. With Tolvasa-Paasa, the group now adds a family-run business with deep roots in Castilla-La Mancha, reinforcing its ambitions in a market segment increasingly associated with healthier food options.

Tolvasa-Paasa operates out of Casas Ibáñez and the Romica industrial estate in Albacete, with facilities spanning approximately 5,000 square meters. The company’s infrastructure includes specialized areas for poultry processing and modern production lines designed to optimize efficiency and quality.
Products are marketed under the Koko Roko brand, leveraging a vertically integrated model that covers feed manufacturing, bird rearing, slaughter, and meat processing. Tolosa y Valiente focuses on feed production, while Paasa handles the slaughter and butchering of poultry, ensuring tight control over each phase.
Innovation and food safety have been central to Tolvasa-Paasa’s recent strategy. The company participates in Delissafe, a research and development project co-financed by CDTI Innovación and European FEDER funds, aimed at developing biotechnological tools for early pathogen detection in the agri-food chain.

Founded in the 1930s, Tolvasa-Paasa traces its origins to a mill established by Rogelio Tolosa in Casas Ibáñez. Over the decades, the business evolved from flour and feed production to a fully integrated poultry operation, shaped by the partnership between the Tolosa and Valiente families.
The company’s longstanding local presence and commitment to vertical integration were recognized in 2025 by the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Albacete, which highlighted Tolvasa-Paasa’s family roots and its evolution since 1933.
