Information from police sources, the conflict began shortly after 8 p.m. and involved mostly women from both families, who are of Roma origin. As the argument intensified, several participants suffered deep cuts and stab wounds.
Emergency services were called to the scene, but relatives took two women to Hospital Gregorio Marañón before ambulances arrived. The 60-year-old victim died of her injuries at the hospital. Another woman, aged 43 and from the same family, remains hospitalized but is not in critical condition, police said. Injured members of the rival family were treated at Hospital 12 de Octubre.
Police have detained four people in connection with the incident: two women, one aged 65, and two men aged 47 and 34. All face charges of participating in a violent brawl. The person believed to have fatally stabbed the woman has not been apprehended. Officers have deployed additional security at both hospitals to prevent further incidents and oversee the custody of those arrested.
The Homicide Group VI is leading the investigation, working to establish each participant’s role and locate the basic suspect. Authorities are also trying to determine the precise motive behind the confrontation. The case follows a recent pattern of violent disputes in Madrid, including a separate stabbing in the Tetuán district that left a teenager in critical condition, as reported in another recent incident.
Puente de Vallecas was also the setting for a separate family-linked homicide: Natalia Silva was shot in January 2024 while inside her van. On 21 October 2026, a popular jury unanimously found Agustín R. and Erika C. guilty of her killing. Prosecutors said the shooting involved at least 11 close-range shots and sought €620,000 in joint-and-several compensation for Silva’s four children and partner, as well as her two sisters. That case is separate from the August 2026 stabbing and does not establish a connection between the incidents.
