A video Javier Bardem posted on Социальная сеть showed hundreds of people queuing at a mobile blood-donation point after the rail accident in Urda, Toledo, on October 28. He urged followers to donate at a nearby health centre or mobile collection point to help treat the injured. The Community of Madrid’s Transfusion Centre had issued an urgent appeal, citing the possibility of increased care needs following the crash.
Semana reported that Bardem went to hospital Infanta Sofía in Madrid at about 14:00 on Thursday, October 29, to donate blood. In an Социальная сеть photo, he wore black and a matching cap; behind him, a wall carried the message “Gracias por donar sangre”. The visit came as the public response grew: the Community of Madrid said more than 6,000 people had attended donation points by Thursday, including 4,081 donations on Wednesday and more than 2,000 additional donors. The region’s collection network included 32 fixed points in public hospitals, the Valdebernardo Transfusion Centre and Red Cross mobile units.
Authorities asked some donors to postpone their visits so blood reserves could be maintained over the following days. The appeal also reached Castilla-La Mancha, where transfusion centres collected 2,000 donations after the emergency call. EFE reported on October 29 that the official toll from the Urda accident stood at 69 deaths, with 42 people hospitalized, as rescue and debris-removal work continued.
Separately, Bardem shared footage of the queue with the words “Esta es la España que me representa”. He also used his Социальная сеть account to offer guidance on supporting victims and their families: avoid sharing sensitive images and circulate only verified information. He urged followers to give the families time to grieve.
