Sociedad Civil Española plans to march through Madrid on 26 September 2026, calling for general elections before 15 November and accusing Pedro Sánchez of “traición” over Ceuta and Melilla. The group will also protest against what it calls an “invasión” of the two territories.
Organisers say the march will bring together prominent figures from the Spanish right and increase pressure on the government.
The march will proceed under the slogan “Por la dignidad de España”. It is due to leave Plaza de Cibeles at 10.00, take Alcalá and Gran Vía before continuing along Princesa towards the Moncloa area, and reach the Arco del Triunfo at about 13.30. Organisers present it as a “marcha por la dignidad”, not a routine party gathering. The manifesto calls on Congress to begin the constitutional procedure to judge Pedro Sánchez for treason and an attack against state security. El País describes Sociedad Civil Española as a network linked to hard-line sectors of the Spanish right, rather than a conventional political party. Europa Press has also reported the announced route towards the Moncloa area.
The document warns of the imminent possibility of “un pucherazo electoral”, alongside its demand for elections before 15 November. The platform links the dispute over Ceuta and Melilla to a direct challenge to the government’s legitimacy, taking its focus beyond migration policy.
Several Spanish reports say the election demand is for a vote “antes del 15 de noviembre”. The constitutional accusation refers to Article 102 and uses the terms “traición” and “atentado contra la seguridad del Estado”.
Party figures are expected at the march. Miguel Tellado, secretary general of the Partido Popular, is due to attend, as is Santiago Abascal, leader of Vox. Their presence ties the platform’s accusations to the parliamentary opposition, while Sociedad Civil Española remains the organiser. Europa Press reports that figures from both PP and Vox are expected to take part.
The organisation is close to the hardest-line sectors of the right. Its orbit includes former Ciudadanos leader Marcos de Quinto, former Vox co-founder Alejo Vidal-Quadras, and former Partido Popular leaders Jaime Mayor Oreja and María San Gil. Spanish media describe SCE as a network involving more than 150 to 200 associated organisations and public figures.
The stated objective is to force a national electoral and constitutional confrontation, unlike the institutional management issues discussed in the Valencia hospitals report.
Morocco World News links the organisers’ focus on Ceuta and Melilla to an influx of around 80,000 migrants at the end of July. Anti-racist groups have also held separate actions condemning what they described as racist and colonial violence against migrants in Ceuta and Melilla.
This is the second mobilisation in less than a month. The previous protest took place on 2 September, when thousands of people across the country joined demonstrations over the handling of the migration crisis in Ceuta.
The new march keeps the territorial dispute in view while widening its demands to include elections and possible proceedings against the prime minister. El Confidencial’s practical coverage places the route through central Madrid and puts the finish in the Moncloa area at roughly 13.30 to 14.00.
The organisers’ immediate focus is Ceuta and Melilla; the election demand and accusations against Sánchez broaden the target.
