Krsto Vujić, who was wounded last week in a busy area of Barcelona, has died in hospital. The attack occurred during the day on the terrace of a bar on paseo Taulat in the Poblenou district, while the man was there with his wife and infant. According to El Pais, Vujić was shot in the back by an unknown assailant who approached him.
The Catalan police (Mossos d’Esquadra) are treating the incident as a premeditated murder linked to the ongoing conflict between the Serbian mafia clans Skaljari and Kavac. Investigators believe Vujić was associated with the Skaljari group, and his death is the latest episode in a series of clashes between these criminal organizations fighting for control over drug trafficking in Europe.
Clan wars in Europe
According to the investigation, Skaljari and Kavac once cooperated, but in 2014 a conflict broke out between them over a 200-kilogram shipment of cocaine destined for Valencia. Since then, the confrontation has spread across several European countries, resulting in dozens of victims. In Catalonia, Vujić has become the third casualty linked to this conflict, and there has also been another attempted murder.
Police actions
Mossos d’Esquadra officers have been monitoring both clans since 2017. During this period, several criminal group divisions have been dismantled. In October last year, a joint operation with the National Police and Serbian law enforcement led to the arrest of 13 people connected to the Kavac clan.

The main source of income for both groups is the import of cocaine from South America. The rivalry between Skaljari and Kavac has already led to more than 60 deaths across Europe.
