The Omoda 5 has crossed the 30,000-unit mark in Spain, reshaping the SUV market and accelerating the rise of Chinese automakers. Its rapid growth and electrified lineup have made it a key player among private buyers.

Spanish roads look different now. Omoda 5 has hit 30,000 units sold. That number forced rivals to pay attention. The SUV market in Spain is changing fast. Chinese brands are no longer outsiders. They are now real contenders. Industry publications, using official registration data, confirm Omoda 5 has sold between 30,000 and 30,100 units since its launch in 2024.

The story started at the end of 2023. Back then, Omoda 5 offered just one gasoline model. Things changed quickly. Autovidal, the local distributor, expanded the lineup. Now, the Omoda 5 comes in electrified versions. This move opened doors in one of Spain's toughest segments. The numbers are clear. In its first full year, Omoda 5 sold 7,800 units. In 2025, sales jumped to 10,800. By 2026, 11,260 units were already registered—beating last year's total before the year even ended. Reports from ANFAC and top automotive outlets back up these figures.

In 2026, the SHS hybrid version accounted for about 88% of Omoda 5 sales in Spain, with nearly 9,958 units registered.

The surge did not happen by chance. The SHS hybrid version changed the game. It pushed Omoda 5 into the top five best-selling SUVs for private buyers. Other brands have struggled. A recent analysis of the Spanish car market pointed this out. Sector analysts say the SHS hybrid not only made Omoda 5 more popular, but also put it among the top five hybrid vehicles in Spain for 2026.

Omoda’s rise is about more than numbers. The brand adapted fast. It moved from a single gasoline model to a full electrified lineup. That shift brought in Spanish buyers looking for value and new tech. In 2026, sales are already ahead of last year. The market is moving quickly. Spanish automotive reviews note this is part of a bigger trend. More drivers want hybrids and plug-in hybrids.

Spain’s established automakers face a new reality. Omoda 5’s results are a wake-up call. Aggressive pricing, electrification, and smart distribution work. Private buyers are open to new brands. The data proves it. Omoda is not just following a trend. It is changing the rules. The message for the industry is simple. Move fast and innovate, or get left behind in Spain’s SUV market.

Omoda and Jaecoo together reached approximately 3.1% of the Spanish passenger car market from January to August 2026, with a combined 25,465 registrations—an increase of about 80.2% year-on-year.
