A €3 chorizo serving and free chestnuts will feature at the 11 November magosto in Ourense. Folk performances and Los Satélites are also scheduled; the programme opens on 7 November with a traditional-instrument workshop.

A €3 serving of chorizo in sourdough bread will be one of the main draws at Ourense’s San Martiño celebrations on 11 November. The Concello de Ourense will also offer free chestnuts at the traditional magosto in Praza Maior and on Progreso Street, beside the Alameda.

Food service starts at 18:00, when the Festival Folk San Martiño is also due to begin. Ialma and Brañas Folk are on the bill, with Pancho Álvarez and Susana Blanco also taking part. Germán Díaz will direct the zanfoña quartet Zarandela.

Callos and porco ao espeto will also be available. From 19:00 to 22:00, the orchestra Los Satélites is scheduled to provide music for dancing on Progreso Street. The Concello announced the programme for the city’s patron saint celebration, which is declared of tourist interest and organised with the Xunta de Galicia. Abanca is also collaborating.

The programme starts on Saturday 7 November with a workshop led by Xavier Blanco on making small traditional instruments «de raíz». It will run from 10:00 to 13:00 at Sala Valente. Anyone over 14 can take part but must register in advance by emailing cultura.negociado@ourense.es. A teaching demonstration of the instruments will follow at the same venue.

RUSSPAIN has also covered festival food in Valladolid’s festival trade, including the cakes associated with Seminci. In Ourense, many residents also arrange small private magostos at home or on country properties, with family or friends. Others hold them on Montealegre.
