The searches included Núcleo Nacional’s Madrid headquarters and several homes, where investigators seized material linked to the organisation. The National Police arrested 14 people and conducted ten searches in Madrid, Asturias, Guadalajara, Valladolid, Pontevedra, Burgos and Alicante on 6 November; an earlier account also reported the operation. Moncloa.com reported that the searches began simultaneously at about 06:00 and were coordinated by the National Police’s General Information Commissariat.
The investigation followed disturbances in Gijón in February in which several students were injured, El País reported. Investigators considered seven detainees possible members of Núcleo Nacional’s leadership. El Confidencial, citing sources familiar with the operation, named Isabel Peralta and brothers Iván Rico and David Rico among the alleged senior figures arrested.
Europa Press reported, citing sources in the case, that several of those arrested were leaders of the far-right organisation. The suspects are accused of incitement to hatred and illicit association. The investigation also concerns alleged unlawful possession of weapons. Núcleo Nacional described the police action as state repression, La Nueva España reported.
The Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Asturias said the secrecy of the proceedings was lifted after the arrests, while the police operation remained open. Ten detainees were expected to appear before Investigating Court No. 1 in Gijón on the morning of Sunday, 8 November, provisionally before 10:00. The group was to include two detainees from Gijón, one from Avilés and seven transferred from other judicial districts.
