Officers spent hours inside the group’s premises at 5 María Tubau Street in Las Tablas, while investigators searched homes linked to its leaders. EFE reported that the coordinated operation began at about 6 a.m. and included ten searches, including the group’s Madrid headquarters.
The National Police operation on Friday, 6 November, resulted in 14 arrests, including spokesperson and leader Iván Rico Olivares and other members of the group’s leadership. EFE initially reported 12 arrests as the operation unfolded; later reports put the total at 14. Other detainees named in media reports included Alberto González de Juan, known as Alberto Pugilato, and Enrique Lemus, founder of Noviembre Nacional. ABC reported the operation, citing sources in the investigation.
Police actions took place in Madrid and Asturias. Guadalajara was another location. Valladolid and Pontevedra were also among the sites; investigators carried out further work in Burgos and Alicante. The operation involved the National Police’s General Information Commissariat and the Madrid regional police headquarters. EFE reported simultaneous police activity in seven provinces, and the operation remained open during the day.
The inquiry concerns events in February, during a mobilisation outside Colegio La Inmaculada in Gijón, near the Héroes de Simancas monument on the school façade. RTVE described the gathering as an event exalting fascism. Attendees’ slogans made the atmosphere tense, but the gathering did not lead to police charges or property damage. Several students later reported alleged assaults by Núcleo Nacional members.
Following those reports, the Gijón Provincial Information Brigade opened an investigation at judicial request. RTVE reported that proceedings began after action by the juvenile prosecutor’s office. The case, coordinated through a court in Gijón and under judicial secrecy while the operation was underway, is being investigated for alleged incitement to hatred and illicit association; some accounts also cite weapons possession. The allegations have not been established as findings of guilt.
The arrests are separate from the Koldo case inquiry, in which officers searched former minister José Luis Ábalos’s Valencia home and arrested six people.
Núcleo Nacional had planned a demonstration for Saturday, 7 November, with a route intended to end outside the PSOE headquarters on Ferraz Street. The group had been constituted as a political formation since the summer. The operation was still underway on Friday, and authorities had not ruled out further arrests.
