New electricity customers can get €100 in Waylet credit and 20 cents off each litre of fuel for 12 months. Repsol wants to pass four million electricity and gas customers by 2028.

The campaign opened on 15 October 2026, with the fuel discount tied to payments made through the Waylet app. Repsol is offering new electricity customers €100 in Waylet credit and 20 cents off each litre of fuel for 12 months.

The promotion runs until 31 December 2026. Repsol says customers who contract electricity or gas can receive the Waylet balance and fuel offer, though the campaign’s stated eligibility period applies to new electricity contracts.

Repsol puts its electricity and gas customer base across Spain and Portugal at around 3.5 million. It wants to pass four million by 2028. The offer connects household energy contracts with fuel purchases, using the company’s retail network and loyalty app to compete beyond the electricity bill.

That push comes as major rivals add customers through acquisitions. On 28 September 2026, Iberdrola agreed to buy Contigo Energía’s Spanish retail business, adding more than 100,000 electricity customers. In 2025 it bought Electra del Maestrazgo, whose business included distribution and retail. The deal also covered generation and involved a business with around 19,000 customers.

Endesa, Spain’s second-largest electricity company, agreed to buy MasOrange’s retail supplier. The deal adds a portfolio of about 350,000 customers. Both transactions broke with a market in which the two utilities had not previously used acquisitions to grow their electricity retail businesses.

Repsol built its position through purchases including Viesgo, which provided an initial portfolio of around 750,000 customers when the company entered electricity in 2018. It also bought Gana Energía. Later purchases included CHC Energía and ODF Energía, as well as smaller businesses such as Ekiluz, which helped Repsol reach different parts of the market.

Naturgy remains the closest benchmark by customer numbers, with just over four million. Repsol is still below that level, while Iberdrola and Endesa each have around nine million electricity customers.

Discounts are returning elsewhere in the sector. Totalenergies has revived its offers in recent weeks with its mascot Totie. The French group once had more than a million electricity customers in Spain, but fell below 900,000 a year ago.

Suppliers are also competing with longer-term price plans. Iberdrola launched its Plan Súper Tranquilidad in March 2026, fixing the energy price for 10 years. Endesa has offered plans with the energy component fixed for three or five years, while Repsol has a five-year Tarifa Tranquilísima. Telecoms companies are also in the contest for customers: Telefónica Germany’s strategy centres on rebuilding services after losing 1&1. Repsol’s offer directly links energy contracts with fuel savings.

The promotion is for new electricity customers signing up between 15 October and 31 December. Existing customers have separate offers.
