The heat risk in the south is underscored by a separate episode in which Morocco’s National Meteorological Directorate reported 50.4°C in Souss-Massa at 1:33 p.m. on 11 August, alongside 50.2°C in Agadir and 48.3°C in Taroudant. The three-day heatwave coincided with sandstorms and Chergui, a hot, dry wind from the Sahara.
Sea conditions are expected to remain generally calm to slightly choppy in the Mediterranean and Strait, with moderate waves north of Casablanca and rougher waters farther south.
