About 6,000 people took part in the XIV edition of ‘Tus Kilómetros Nos Dan Vida’ at Parque del Alamillo. All available race bibs were claimed within days, with proceeds going to childhood cancer research and care.

Proceeds from the event go through Fundación SEHOP to advance research and improve care for children and adolescents with cancer. Paediatric oncology professionals from Hospital Infantil Virgen del Rocío and families of children receiving treatment launched the race in Seville in 2013. Its XIV edition brought about 6,000 people to Parque del Alamillo. The event raises funds rather than operating as a conventional timed sporting event.

Children’s races began at 10:30. Adults set off at noon for a 5.2-kilometre course, with no time limit to reach the finish. Live performances and activities continued after the races, extending the fundraising programme.

Seville’s sports delegate, María Tena, joined the organisers and praised the event’s growth. All 6,000 available race bibs had been claimed within a few days. Other supporters contributed through the “dorsal 0” option. Sevilla Actualidad reported that this donation route remained open to supporters who could not secure a place in the race.

The funding supports clinical trials and the Beca Nacional de Investigación ‘Tus Kilómetros Nos Dan Vida’. It also backs the Registro Español de Tumores Infantiles (RETI), alongside research into paediatric tumours. Music therapy and physical activity for young patients undergoing treatment also receive support. Funds go to projects involving brain tumours, as well as work on kidney and bone tumours. Muchodeporte reported that the race had raised €1,213,137 since its creation. Over its history, it attracted more than 54,500 runners, while more than 300 volunteers typically take part in each edition. A separate report examined heat-related mortality in Spain.

Donations and information about the race are available at the event’s official website, www.tuskilometrosnosdanvida.org.
