Pepa Bueno will host a 45-minute Telediario 2 special on 19 October, bringing familiar faces back to Torrespaña. It starts at 20:55 on La 1 and Canal 24 horas, with a stream on RTVE Play.
Spain’s first regular television broadcasts began on 28 October 1956. The anniversary special, El Telediario de nuestras vidas, airs on Monday 19 October at 20:55 peninsular time, with Pepa Bueno presenting.
The 45-minute programme brings familiar faces from Spanish television history back to the Torrespaña studio. Iñaki Gabilondo and Pedro Piqueras are among the guests. Olga Viza and Manuel Campo Vidal will also appear. TVE presenters Ana Blanco and María Escario are taking part, alongside Lorenzo Milá.
Several guests built their careers at TVE before moving to private broadcasters. Carlos Franganillo, now associated with Mediaset’s news service, is due back at Torrespaña. So is Matías Prats, who is associated with Antena 3. The programme will revisit major stories covered by TVE’s news service since broadcasting began, along with memories and milestones from Telediario’s history.
RTVE has presented the anniversary as a tribute to television pioneers. It also recognizes the journalists and technical staff who helped shape public broadcasting over seven decades, as well as the viewers who followed it.
Carlos del Amor devised the programme and will direct it. Antonio Casado is directing the production, while Bueno will present from the desk.
The special airs on La 1 and Canal 24 horas. It will also be available on RTVE Play, and on RTVE Noticias’ YouTube channel and RTVE.es. After the broadcast, it will remain on RTVE Play.
The anniversary coverage has already included a special edition of Telediario 1. Alejandra Herranz and the programme’s team presented 70 años juntos from Robledillo de la Jara, a Madrid municipality with about 80 residents. The village’s main square is named Plaza de Televisión Española. Robledillo received its first television set through the programme Destino TV in the late 1950s.
That broadcast combined archive footage with live performances. The Orquesta y Coro de RTVE played familiar music from the broadcaster’s history. Characters from Barrio Sésamo appeared, including Don Pimpón. Ruperta from Un, dos, tres... shared the programme with puppets from La bola de cristal. Journalist Borja Terán discussed television’s social and cultural impact in its early decades. The broadcast formed part of RTVE’s anniversary coverage ahead of El Telediario de nuestras vidas.
In the village square, musician Pablo López performed «Casi siempre» at the piano. He then played the familiar La bola de cristal theme on keyboards. RTVE Noticias has also opened a poll on RTVE Participa, asking readers to choose up to three of the most important news stories of the past 70 years.
Sports journalist María Escario is among the figures from specialist news coverage named for the programme. Weather presenters Paco Montesdeoca and Mónica López, head of RTVE’s El Tiempo unit, are also listed in its promotional material.
