A Valencia conference on 28 October will examine the teachings of Pope León XIV’s visit to Spain. José Gabriel Vera Beorlegui is due to speak from 18:30 to 20:00 at the Archbishopric’s headquarters.
The session is scheduled from 18:30 to 20:00 at the Archbishopric’s assembly hall on calle Avellanas 12 in Valencia. It will open the diocese’s 2026-2027 cycle, «Alzad la mirada. Iglesia, comunión y misión».
José Gabriel Vera Beorlegui, a priest and former director of the Spanish Episcopal Conference’s Information Office, will speak under the title «Claves fundamentales de la visita de León XIV: “Alzad la mirada”». The conference is scheduled for Wednesday, 28 October.
The diocesan Secretariat for Spirituality says the session will consider the visit’s teachings, including the Pope’s call to renew hope and strengthen communion, alongside a fuller commitment to the Church’s evangelising mission. Organisers also describe it as an opportunity to consider how Christians can put León XIV’s message into practice. The conference follows the Pope’s visit to Spain from 6 to 12 June 2026, with stops in Madrid and Barcelona, followed by Gran Canaria and Tenerife. The Spanish Episcopal Conference reported 21 public events attended by approximately 2.31 million people.
During the visit, León XIV met Spanish bishops at the Episcopal Conference’s headquarters on 8 June, as the institution marked its 60th anniversary. The conference’s economic assessment, presented in Madrid on 20 October, put the visit’s impact at €139.48 million. Fernando Giménez Barriocanal, deputy general coordinator of the trip, also reported €29.3 million in organisational expenditure and 3,080 temporary full-time-equivalent jobs. The journey covered more than 2,500 kilometres.
In separate coverage of Spain, RUSSPAIN reported on the Madrid teachers’ strike.
The conference will be held at the Archbishopric’s headquarters, calle Avellanas 12, Valencia.
