Updating an iPhone does not unlock every advertised Siri feature in Spain. Apple has left the European Union out of its initial AI rollout, while Spanish-language support follows a separate timetable.

Apple’s latest software update does not bring its new artificial intelligence features for Siri to Spain. The restriction applies across iOS, iPadOS and watchOS in the European Union. So if an iPhone owner expected the advertised assistant after installing the update, the missing functions are the result of a regional limit, not a failed installation.

The distinction matters. The update itself can be installed even when some of its headline features remain unavailable. Apple has confirmed that the first release of its AI-powered Siri functions excludes the EU. Spain is therefore outside the initial group of territories where those capabilities will work.

В ЕС ограничение касается не всех устройств Apple: при поддерживаемом языке новые функции Siri AI доступны на Mac и Vision Pro, тогда как на iPhone, iPad и Apple Watch они изначально недоступны.

The issue is not limited to the iPhone.

Apple’s regional decision covers three operating systems. The same restriction therefore affects compatible features on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch devices running iOS, iPadOS or watchOS. Installing the newest version does not automatically turn on every function that Apple offers in other markets.

For users in Spain, the result is simple. An updated device may still provide the familiar Siri experience without the new artificial intelligence functions. The supplied information gives no indication that reinstalling the software or replacing the device would remove the restriction. Availability in the European Union is the deciding factor.

Apple has also put Spanish-language support on a separate timetable. The company has scheduled the arrival of Spanish for October. That date should not be taken as confirmation that the wider AI functions will reach the EU at the same time. Apple’s support documentation separately confirms the platform restriction and says the relevant AI features remain unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS.

These are two different parts of the rollout. One concerns the language Siri will support. The other concerns where Apple’s artificial intelligence features can be used. Mixing them together could mislead users in Spain. The arrival of Spanish does not by itself guarantee access to the full new Siri.

The publication has also looked at how regional conditions can shape access to digital services in an earlier report, although that coverage dealt with different circumstances.

Apple’s message draws a clear line between receiving an update and receiving every feature associated with it. In this case, the software can arrive before the promised assistant functions. The regional restriction remains the main fact for users in Spain. The October language timetable is a separate development, not a solution to the current limitation.

Apple Newsroom has also described the AI rollout and platform availability separately. Installing the update, therefore, should not be treated as proof that the new Siri is active in Spain.
