Spain is the latest market for the XPeng G9 AWD Performance, a Chinese premium SUV that pairs road performance with ultra-fast charging. It produces 575 hp and sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, putting it in direct competition with established European brands. Its 800V electrical system supports a manufacturer-claimed maximum DC charging rate of 525 kW. The battery is rated at 93.1 kWh gross, with 92.2 kWh reported as usable capacity in European specifications. XPeng claims a 10-to-80% charge in 12 minutes under suitable conditions.
Visually, the XPeng G9 makes a strong impression, though its design language feels familiar rather than radical. Expansive digital screens dominate the cabin, where physical buttons are scarce, a hallmark of current Chinese automotive trends. The approach creates a futuristic atmosphere but can complicate simple tasks. Drivers must handle the central display to adjust the steering wheel and mirrors, or even to demist the windshield. In a European road test of the RWD Long Range version, Motorwelt recorded charging power of approximately 290-310 kW on a nominal 350 kW station. The test observed a large rate during its measured interval, but did not cover the complete 10-to-80% window. The 12-minute figure remains XPeng’s claim; the observed result shows how strongly charging depends on available infrastructure.
The manufacturer says the G9 consumes an average of 24.3 kWh per 100 km, translating to a real-world range of around 396 km per charge. In a separate 4gnews road test, covering about 300 km of mixed urban and motorway driving, consumption came to 18.1 kWh per 100 km. That is a test result, distinct from the manufacturer’s figure. European specifications list up to 540 km of WLTP range for the Long Range version, with certified range varying by drivetrain and configuration.
