Luis López, a young cattle breeder from Castellón, died in Gátova while searching for several escaped animals. He became unwell during the search in the early hours and could not be revived.
The Federació de Penyes Taurines de Bous al Carrer de la Comunitat Valenciana paid tribute to López for his dedication to regional traditions and his work raising fighting cattle. It said his commitment and enthusiasm left a lasting impression on people who shared his interests.
López came from Geldo, a town in Castellón province. The local council offered its condolences to his family and friends. His cattle operation, based at the La Laguna estate in Segorbe, was registered with the Agrupación Española de Ganaderos de Reses Bravas.
Established six years ago, the breeding operation had earned a reputation for quality. Information from specialist magazine Aplauso, its herd was based primarily on animals from La Paloma, a respected cattle brand in the Valencian Community.
The article also referred to the death of Paco Ron, an innovator in Asturian cuisine whose professional community paid tribute to him. That was a separate event; further details appear in this report on the loss of Paco Ron.
Cattle breeding for traditional festivities and bull-related events remains part of rural life in areas including Valencia and Castellón. Breeders contribute to local events and traditions, while livestock work can involve unpredictable situations. López’s death has been mourned by people in his community and others connected to the cattle-breeding and bullfighting traditions he pursued.
