Autumn 2025 promises to be eventful for Spanish aristocracy. The focus will be on the House of Alba, where two major weddings are scheduled just one week apart. These celebrations will break the family’s tradition of restraint and present certain challenges for Sofía Palazuelo, Duchess of Huéscar, who will have to attend both events.
The first celebration will take place on October 4 in Seville. After ten years together, Cayetano Martínez de Irujo, Duke of Arjona and Count of Salvatierra, will marry Bárbara Mirjan. The ceremony will be held in the city’s iconic Santuario-Iglesia de los Gitanos. Society circles are watching with particular interest, speculating whether the entire Alba clan will gather for the wedding. A full reunion of all siblings and their partners has not occurred since their mother, the late Duchess Cayetana. The reception will be held at the groom’s estate, Las Arroyuelas, which serves as his main residence.
Exactly seven days later, on October 11, the wedding celebrations will move to Cáceres. There, Fernando Palazuelo, the Duchess of Huéscar’s older brother, will wed Peruvian actress Micaela Belmont. The couple has been together for seven years. The bride is the daughter of Diana Álvarez Calderón, who served as Peru’s Minister of Culture under Ollanta Humala, and she gained recognition in Spain thanks to her role in the TV series ‘¡A qué estás esperando?’.
For Sofía Palazuelo and her husband Fernando Fitz-James Stuart, attending both events will be quite a challenge. The Duchess is expected to give birth to their third child—a long-awaited son who will join their two daughters, four-year-old Rosario and two-year-old Sofía—by October. Nevertheless, the future Duchess of Alba will no doubt want to support her only brother on such an important day for him.
The wedding of Fernando and Micaela stands out not only for its social prominence but also for its business significance. The banquet will take place at the recently restored Palacio de Godoy. This grand mid-16th-century building has been transformed into the boutique Hotel Palacio de Godoy Curio Collection by Hilton. The project, which Fernando Palazuelo has managed since 2018, aims to strengthen cultural ties between Cáceres and Peru. The wedding date was chosen deliberately, coinciding with the official opening of the hotel—blending personal happiness with business success.
Most of the guests invited to the Cáceres wedding will stay at the new hotel. It is expected that Sofía Palazuelo, her husband, and their children will have one of the eight luxurious suites reserved for them. This will ensure maximum comfort for the family of the future Dukes of Alba right in the heart of the city’s historic center.
