The Spanish music scene has been shaken by news that fans have been waiting for nearly two decades. The iconic pop group from San Sebastián has regained its golden voice. The singer, whose name is inseparably linked to the band’s biggest hits, has once again become its frontwoman. An official statement published on the musicians’ website on October 15, 2025, put an end to years of rumors and speculation, confirming a reunion that once seemed an unattainable dream.
This landmark event was preceded by a year of uncertainty and behind-the-scenes changes. Rumors of a reunion of the original lineup began circulating even before Leire Martínez, who took the microphone after the original lead singer’s departure, left the group on October 14, 2024. Her departure left the band without a vocalist for a whole year. In addition, guitarist Pablo Benegas also left, marking the end of his participation in the project. Thus, the band enters a new era not only with its former lead singer but also with a refreshed instrumental lineup.
The announcement was prepared with theatrical flair. A few days before the statement was published, the musicians wiped their social media: they deleted last year’s post about Leire’s departure, changed their profile pictures to a completely white image, and updated their bio with the mysterious phrase “Only together does it make sense.” In their address to the public, the artists shared that they had spent the past year in their hometown of San Sebastián, where they not only reminisced about the past but also actively created new musical stories. They promised to share more news soon, making it clear that a full-fledged new chapter in their creative journey was about to begin.
Adding to the intrigue was the singer’s close friend, actress and TV presenter Cayetana Guillén Cuervo. Back in April 2025, she essentially confirmed the reunion, stating that the singer had asked her to keep it a secret until the official announcement. According to the TV host, the artist was full of enthusiasm but at the same time felt some caution about taking such a major step. Interestingly, following these revelations, the singer unfollowed her friend on social media, adding even more spice to the already tense anticipation.
A decisive milestone on this path was her spectacular return to the public eye after a two-year hiatus. On July 21, 2025, tens of thousands of spectators at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu witnessed a historic event. During a concert by Colombian star Karol G, the very same lead singer appeared on stage to perform the timeless hit “Rosas” together. For her, this appearance was more than a performance—it was a powerful symbol of overcoming the challenges related to mental health, which she had previously spoken about openly. Later, she publicly thanked Karol G for the invitation, which, according to her, became a turning point in her musical career.
Now that all the cards are on the table, fans can eagerly anticipate the outcome of this reunion. The musicians have already announced the release of a new studio album scheduled for 2025, as well as a major tour set to begin in spring 2026. It appears that one of Spain’s most successful pop groups of all time is ready not just to remind the world of their legacy, but to write an entirely new chapter in their already rich history.
