Kia EV5 surprises with price and range — new family EV for Spain

Revolutionary changes on the automotive market, new family options arriving, discover what Kia EV5 brings for Spanish drivers

The Kia EV5 debuts in Spain with a range of over 500 km and a starting price below €40,000 after discounts. The model targets families looking for a practical electric crossover with modern technology and attractive purchase conditions

The arrival of the Kia EV5 on the Spanish market could change how families choose their cars. This new electric crossover offers a range of up to 530 km on a single charge and a starting price that, after all discounts and incentives, falls below 40,000 euros. For many families, it’s an opportunity to switch to an eco-friendly vehicle without sacrificing comfort or features.

Interest in electric vehicles has been growing in Spain in recent years, but until now, many models have either been too expensive or didn’t meet size needs. The Kia EV5 fills a gap between compact and large electric cars, offering a spacious interior, modern multimedia system, and three trim levels: Air, Earth, and GT-Line. The base model comes with a 160 kW (217 hp) electric motor and an 81.4 kWh battery, providing not only impressive range but also confident performance.

Pricing and trim levels

Official prices for the Kia EV5 in Spain start at 46,070 euros for the Air trim. The Earth version, which the manufacturer considers the most balanced, is priced at 47,570 euros. The top-tier GT-Line offers sporty features, including 19-inch wheels, but its range is slightly lower at 517 km. However, the actual cost for buyers is much less: taking into account discounts, trade-in bonuses, and special financing offers, the base version costs 39,490 euros, Earth comes to 40,990 euros, and GT-Line to 46,490 euros.

Additionally, the government electric vehicle support program Plan Auto+ offers up to €4,500 in subsidies, but the maximum amount is not available for the Kia EV5 since the model is not produced in Europe. However, under certain conditions, buyers can receive €2,925 if the vehicle price falls between €35,000 and €45,000. This makes the EV5 one of the most affordable family electric crossovers in its class.

Family practicality

The main advantage of the Kia EV5 is its combination of spaciousness and advanced technology. The interior comfortably accommodates five adults and their luggage, and its equipment level rivals that of more expensive models. Even the base version includes modern safety systems, climate control, and a multimedia system with a large screen. For families with children, saving on fuel isn’t the only priority—it’s also about easy maintenance and the flexibility to recharge the car at home or at public stations.

In the coming months, the lineup is set to expand: an all-wheel-drive version and the sporty GT modification, which will be the most powerful in the family, are expected. According to Autobild, prices for these variants will exceed €55,000 before discounts and subsidies are applied. This will let Kia compete with premium brands while offering more attractive purchase conditions.

Market and competitors

The Spanish electric vehicle market is becoming increasingly competitive. In 2025, according to russpain, Chinese manufacturers have already started to actively conquer Europe, offering affordable electric crossovers with extended warranties and attractive prices. Against this backdrop, the Kia EV5 stands out as a balanced choice for those seeking reliability, spaciousness, and modern technology without overpaying for a brand.

The arrival of the EV5 could push other manufacturers to lower prices and improve features. This is especially relevant in the C-SUV segment, where competition between European, Asian, and Chinese brands is intensifying. For buyers, this means more options and better deals, while for the market, it signals an accelerated shift toward environmentally friendly transport.

The Kia EV5 is not just a new electric vehicle; it’s an attempt to redefine the concept of family cars. This model combines practicality, modern design, and affordability, making it appealing to a broad audience. In the coming months, demand for such vehicles may increase, especially if government support programs remain in place and expand.

In recent years, the Kia brand has strengthened its position in the European market, particularly in the electric vehicle segment. The company actively invests in technology development and expands its model lineup to meet the expectations of modern consumers. The EV5 is a logical continuation of this strategy, offering an optimal balance between price, features, and range. Thanks to this, Kia remains one of the leaders among mass-market electric car manufacturers in Spain.
