This year, the international Nature inFocus award once again brought together thousands of photographs capturing extraordinary moments from the lives of animals and the natural world. The jury selected winners in several categories, each reflecting a unique facet of the wild.
In the category dedicated to environmental conservation, first prize went to a photo depicting an Arctic wolf in a tense encounter with a herd of musk oxen. The image is not only dramatic, but also serves as a reminder of the fragility of ecosystems.
In the category celebrating animal behavior, the jury recognized a photograph of a chimpanzee resting in a relaxed pose. Second place was awarded to a photographer who captured a rare glimpse into the lives of wild animals, offering viewers a fresh perspective on familiar species.
The portrait category delighted with expressive imagery: the winning photo featured a leopard set against a backdrop of garbage. This striking contrast highlights the impact of human activity on wildlife and prompts reflection on the future of animals in a changing world.
In the section devoted to the coexistence of people and nature, the jury selected images where harmony and conflict between species take center stage. Here, flamingos can be seen feeding near human settlements, alongside other compelling examples of human-animal interaction.
Particular attention was given to photographs taken by young photographers. In this category, the winning shot captures the dynamism and emotion of wildlife through the eyes of a young artist. Second place went to a work distinguished by its fresh perspective and original approach to the theme.
In the ‘Animals in Their Natural Habitat’ category, the winning image showcased a rare moment in the lives of fauna in their usual environment. The runner-up photo captured details of the everyday existence of animals, usually overlooked by the human eye.
The creative category impressed with unusual angles and experiments with color and light. Here, photographers aimed not only to showcase the beauty of nature but also to convey their unique vision of the world through the camera lens.
The Nature inFocus 2025 award once again demonstrated that photography can not only inspire but also draw attention to important environmental issues. The winning works encourage us to reflect on humanity’s role in preserving nature and the value of each moment spent alone in the wild.
