A large-scale operation was launched by the Catalan police this weekend in the Santa Linya area (Lleida). Hundreds of people gathered on private property to take part in an illegal party, the second such event in recent months in this region. The organizers did not obtain any permits, and authorities only learned about the gathering at sunrise on Saturday.
Police officers chose not to immediately disperse the crowd, but decided to restrict access to the property. Checkpoints were set up at the entrances to prevent new guests from arriving. Those leaving the event are being tested for alcohol and drugsβto prevent possible accidents on the roads.
During the event, emergency services had to assist one of the participants. A 30-year-old man from Barcelona suddenly felt unwell and lost consciousness. Doctors diagnosed cardiac arrest and urgently transported him to Arnau de Vilanova Hospital, where he was admitted to intensive care. His condition is reported as critical.
Such parties are not uncommon in the region. In September, police already intervened in a similar event in Bovera, but that time there were fewer participants. And in August, another illegal gathering was recorded in Ivars de Noguera, where around a hundred people and several dozen vehicles assembled. On that occasion, the event took place in a protected natural area, raising additional concerns among authorities.
It is still unclear whether the organizers of the current party will be held accountable. Police continue to monitor the situation to prevent further dangerous incidents and to ensure the safety of both attendees and local residents.
