The quiet night on the AP-7 highway near L’Ampolla (Tarragona) was shattered when a luxury SUV sped by at high speed, ignoring all police signals. Behind the wheel was a 26-year-old man who, upon noticing a patrol, refused to stop and tried to escape by turning off his headlights and heading toward a residential area.
The chase unfolded rapidly: several units joined the pursuit, including the local police. The driver, risking his life, continued maneuvering until he lost control and plunged into a ravine. After the crash, he tried to flee but was caught and detained by law enforcement officers.
Upon inspecting the vehicle’s interior, police were stunned by the scale of the discovery. Inside, they found nearly a ton of hashish and 15 kilograms of cocaine, as well as a 9mm handgun. They also determined that the car’s license plates were fake and actually belonged to another vehicle.
The young man was taken to court in Tortosa, where he was charged with several offenses: drug trafficking, reckless driving, document forgery, and possession of a firearm without a license. He will now have to answer for his actions in court as the investigation continues.
