On Friday, around two o’clock in the afternoon, an evacuation suddenly began at the administration building of the Diputación de Badajoz. All employees were asked to leave their workplaces immediately. The reason was a suspicious package addressed to former head of the institution and ex-leader of the regional Socialist Party, Miguel Ángel Gallardo. Eyewitnesses said wires were protruding from the parcel, raising alarm among the staff.
Within minutes, units of the National Police arrived at the scene. Officers quickly set up a cordon and made sure no one remained inside. Employees leaving their offices looked concerned, but there was no panic. Entrances and exits were blocked, and the surrounding streets were temporarily closed to traffic.
Specialists from the TEDAX unit — which handles explosive devices — soon arrived at the scene. Wearing protective gear, the experts began inspecting the suspicious item. Their task was to determine whether the package posed a real threat and to neutralize it if necessary.
