A large-scale operation unfolded on the coast of Cádiz, where officers from the Guardia Civil foiled an attempt to smuggle a major shipment of hashish. It all began when the maritime surveillance system detected a suspicious vessel heading toward the shore near Chipiona. The alert was immediately sent to patrol boats, and soon, two of the agency’s speedboats raced to intercept the intruders.
A helicopter took to the air to coordinate the operation from above. From its vantage point, officers could see bales on board the drug boat and fuel canisters nearby. Realizing they had been spotted, the crew tried to escape, but their maneuvers failed. Two more boats joined the pursuit in an attempt to hinder the interception, but the coordinated efforts of law enforcement left them no chance.
After a chase, authorities managed to stop the 15-meter vessel, which was equipped with four powerful engines. On board were four men, who were immediately detained. A search revealed 1.7 tons of hashish packed in bags. All those arrested were taken to shore for further legal proceedings.
Later, on land near Aguadulce beach in Rota, officers spotted a group carrying fuel canisters. Patrols arrived and seized 114 containers of fuel, along with ten more that had already been loaded onto an inflatable boat. The suspects abandoned the boat and fled.
The entire operation was the result of coordinated actions by the maritime, air, and ground units of the Guardia Civil. Thanks to their swift response, authorities not only apprehended the suspects but also prevented a large shipment of drugs from entering Spain.
