On Sunday afternoon, an incident involving a Euromed train occurred on the railway line near Reus, in the La Boella area. The train, following its route, came to a sudden stop, leaving about three hundred passengers stranded, forced to wait for assistance inside the carriages.
The unscheduled stop was caused by a pantograph malfunction—the device responsible for supplying electricity from the overhead lines to the train. Without this mechanism, the train could not move and was left completely immobilized on the tracks.
While specialists worked to fix the fault, another train was dispatched to the scene to tow the stranded Euromed towards Barcelona. Passengers on board were forced to spend several hours waiting as technical teams dealt with the situation.
In response to the incident, the Ferrocat emergency plan was activated—a special protocol for handling railway emergencies. Measures were taken to ensure passenger safety and to restore traffic on the line as quickly as possible.
The incident caused considerable concern among passengers, but serious consequences were avoided. Technical teams provided updates as the situation evolved, and passengers received the necessary support. Eventually, after the malfunction was resolved, service on the line was restored and travelers were able to continue their journeys.
