This year, Barcelona once again became a hub for leading figures in Spanish media. Journalists, presenters, actors, and producers gathered within the walls of the Gran Teatre del Liceu to celebrate outstanding achievements in radio, television, and culture. The prestigious Premios Ondas 2025 ceremony unfolded in an atmosphere of inspiration and recognition, with Mara Torres serving as the evening’s host.
One of the most touching moments was the presentation of the award to Alejandra Herranz, news anchor at RTVE, who was recognized as Communicator of the Year. She was visibly moved, sharing her joy with colleagues over lunch ahead of the gala. That evening celebrated not only individual success, but also teamwork—something modern journalism cannot do without.
Special attention was given to humor as a tool for covering current events. El Gran Wyoming, awarded Best Presenter, accepted the recognition with irony and highlighted the contribution of the entire El Intermedio team, whose program has remained on air for two decades.
Honor and recognition for radio masters
Pilar Gil, Executive Director of Prisa Media, reminded everyone of the vital role radio plays in society, especially in times of crisis. She recalled the recent massive power outage on April 28, when radio became the only source of information for millions of Spaniards. The Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, congratulated the award winners and noted that the city is experiencing a true cultural revival.
Toni Clapés, host of Versió Rac1, received the award on his birthday and thanked his colleagues for their support throughout two decades on air. Cadena SER journalist Isaías Lafuente was recognized for his contribution to the profession and advocated for better working conditions for media professionals.
Television: fresh faces and hot topics
In the television category, the jury recognized the series Querer, directed by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, as well as the project Pubertat, created for HBO Max and 3Cat. Special recognition went to actresses Carmen Machi, Nathalie Poza, and Claudia Salas for their roles in the series Furia (HBO Max), which explores complex and often dramatic issues faced by women in modern society.
The jury also praised the quality work of RTVE journalists who covered the year’s most significant events—from the massive blackout to the death of the Pope. These reports were an example of speed and professionalism, and served as a reminder of the importance of reliable information in the digital era.
Premios Ondas: tradition and new horizons
This year, a total of 26 awards were presented, underscoring the scale and significance of the prize for Spain’s media industry. Organizers and participants unanimously agreed that journalistic success is impossible without teamwork, mutual respect, and a commitment to high standards.
The Premios Ondas 2025 was not only a celebration for the winners, but also a reminder of the importance of journalism. At a time when society faces new challenges, it is high-quality journalism and honest communication that help maintain public trust and shape the country’s cultural identity.
